HILLTOP PLACE RANCH PROFESSIONALLY PROCESSED, INSPECTED CHEVON (GOAT) MEAT
PER POUND PRICE LIST (Please call for current pricing. Minimal private sales will be available in 2017. Due to drought conditions from the fall of 2010 to spring 2015, the breeding had to be greatly reduced, so there are limited meat sales available through 2017 and 2018. Some of the meat cuts pictured here are no longer available for purchase, because the processor did not like doing them or they were difficult to sell to customers. They are there, so you might think about asking someone else who raises goats to provide them for you. Thank you for your support. We do not allow persons to do their own slaughter of our goats at our ranch. All of our goats must go through proper processing at a Texas State Inspected Facility. We also do not sell goats for you to take away and slaughter at home. We need to ensure a humane end to our animal's lives at a state inspected facility that we have personal knowledge about their practices.
We do not usually sell whole, half, or quartered animals. They are very difficult for us to transport and maintain proper temperatures of the meat. We take keeping the meat proper temperature for your safety very seriously.
We do not sell Cabritos. True Cabritos are very young goats who are still being fed milk by their mothers or have just been weaned only about 3 months old at most and they weigh only about 20-40 lbs live weight, so their hanging weight would be only about 10-20 lbs. Our meat is chevon, which grows the animal out to its true weight potential, so the mother's life is not wasted carrying the kids and the kid gets to live a fun life here for about 12-22 months. We feel this practice provides the best use of the mother and kids lives.
Due to the high processing cost of meat, we may be selling whole animals by the pound market hanging weight price, delivered to the processor, with you working with the processor process the animal to your specifications and you picking up and paying the processor for their portion of the meat production. Please call Mary to discuss this option. Adequate time for getting an appointment with the processor may be as long as 2-3 weeks from request.
